Choices during registration

Hi community,

I am currently creating a site where members have the option to offer something or to find something. When a user registers I would like to ask a question like this:

What do you want to do: Offer something / Find something

When the user clicks “Offer something” he should be presented with profile field options from “profile field group A” and when the user clicks “Find something” he should be presented with “profile field group B” options.

Is that currently possible? Is there a plugin that is able to do this?

Hi @digital-brain

You’ll need to distinguish users that offer something from users that find something. That can be done via roles and responsibilities in WordPress:

You can add roles using add_role() and assign certain responsibilities to them:

Once you have the custom roles set up, you can check if the logged-in user has a certain capability using current_user_can()

Hope this helps – it isn’t a fully coded solution but should be a useful starting point.
