Exclude Mapped site from BuddyPress

I just started playing with BuddyPress and am trying to figure out the path I want to take with the website. I’m trying to cut down some work by merging multiple websites – one of which is the network site.
What I have setup right now is WP 3.0.4 Multi with Domain Mapping configured and working correctly. BuddyPress is installed with very few configuration adjustments.
What I would like to be able to do is be able to exclude BuddyPress Nav Bar from specified sites in the Multi Site install. Is this possible, or would I be better off setting up a second Multi Site on a different domain/hosting account and configuring it for sites I don’t want the BuddyPress Nav bar on?
