Theme Page Templates not being used on Buddypress pages

The Buddypress pages are not using the default page template the rest of my site is using. How can I force it to use the default set up. That is, the sidebar and widgets on the right side. Currently, Buddypress page have the column on the left side with a widget listing all the sites pages. I don’t want that.

My site is homechoolpedia.net and it’s using the govpress.con theme

But after reading it, I’m still unlear as to how to match the Buddypress page style/template with the rest of my site.
