Activity Stream

As a Newbie to buddypress I would like to ask you guys my question.
The activity tab allows you to view any users activity right, and off course post new status message and about that i would like my users to not post status messages but view other information like what badges they have and who they added as their friends like Mashable. But i still want to keep the activity page available to view in the nav but without the status message box.
Please Help me out
