wp-login.php does not log me into WordPress dashboard

ill try this over on the wordpress support but im covering all bases by placing this here.
When i try log in to the wordpress dashboard i get the usual log in page but it logs me into a buddypress account and brings me back to the site as opposed to the wordpress dashboard.
Can you help?
