How to deactivate the Alert “New activities to handle: xxx”

Howdy – in Admin I am getting “New activities to handle: ” alerts. How can I get rid of these alerts? Why do they show in the first place? Are these alerts generated by Buddypress, or another plugin, like bp-moderation?
