BuddyPress.org

Hello all I’m pretty new to Buddypress and have spent hours trying to get this to work. All I’m trying to achieve is go from mysite.com/members/user to mysite.com/user. How is this possible I have tried adding php into the bp_custom.php under /wp-content/plugins. I’m stumped any help would be awesome!
