[Resolved] Overriding global.js with buddypress.js not working

I have spent the last couple of hours trying to override buddypress.js with no luck, I got so desperate I deleted all instances of buddypress.js from my theme and my plugin folder, I also deleted global.js from the plugin folder and unregistered the dtheme-ajax-js and ‘bp-legacy-js scripts, but ALAS! for some reason the javascript (textarea animation etc.) for the activity form kept on working :o. I put everything back in their place and then placed buddypress.js in my child theme file (childtheme/buddypress/js/buddypress.js) to override global.js. upon inspecting my webpage after loading I can now see the buddypress.js from my child theme being loaded in the <head></head> section of my site. But no matter what I add or remove in the javascript file, my website ignores the modifications, even malformed code does not throw an error, help!!!!!!

Okay so upon further inspection it turns out my buddypress.js is being used, however the click function for the the #whats-new-form form around line 101 is not being executed from the buddypress.js, it is being completely ignored WHY?

Found the solution, by placing buddypress.js in my child theme file (childtheme/buddypress/js/buddypress.js) as advertised, the problem was the activity privacy plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-activity-privacy/ this conflicts with my overide, afteruninstalling it my buddypress.js works!!!
