Why is the Documentation so bad!?

    Yes, i know.. Buddypress is free and i’m also very grateful for it.

    But i have spent the last 5 hours to find out, why my new navigation item didn’t work. I have read dozens of articles and posts, but my custom navigation link always leads me to the members overview page.

    Finally i was able to fix it by adding 'default_subnav_slug' => 'my_subnav_slug' to my bp_core_new_nav_item() function.

    I don’t want to add a subnav, therefore i dont mind, that it is needed! It’s documented here as OPTIONAL! Please fix this, thank you!

    I mean, the buddypress documentation is sparse anyway, so the existing information should be at least properly, shouldn’t it? 😉

    Codex change has been made.
    I always set default_subnav_slug to the same value as slug.

    That codex page had not been updated in over 4 years.
    Yes, the documentation is sparse and sometimes does not reflect the current state of the codebase.
    A reorg of the codex is planned for 2016 – perhaps you’ll get involved.

    Thx for your answer. I didn’t want to be rude, but it was a bit frustrating for me 😉

    Reorganisation of the codex sounds really good. If i can contribute in any way, then i’ll be glad to do.
