    If I back up Buddypress will it save all of the members details, comments, photos etc, or will it just save the basic template and lose all of the details when restored?

    You mean backup the BP files?
    That will just backup up those files.
    Member data, comments are stored in the database.
    Photos are stored in the wp_content/uploads directory.

    Thank you for the reply, so if I back up all of the files on the site this means that I will be able to retrieve everything and reinstall it.

    No, you also need to backup the database.
