URGENT! No “read more” links on posts in activity

This was resolved over a year ago (https://buddypress.org/support/topic/important-no-read-more-links-on-posts-in-activity/) but I am now having the same issue since the last WP/BP upgrade.

Using: WP 4.4.1 BP 2.4.3 (I upgraded a test site to 2.5.1 and have the same problem)
In WP the Reading Settings and set to display full text, and older posts in activity stream are still displaying correctly.

Hope someone can help.

Is anyone else having this problem? Was working in twentyeleven theme.
now using twentysixteen so could there be a change in code??
