Using username in menus and links – as in the admin bar menu

I am sure this is very easy but I’m struggling…(and it’s late!)
I want to add menu items that list (for instance) the logged in user’s groups, or favourites, etc.
I want to be able to configure this from the Menu settings in the dashboard. So I need to configure a link in the menu such as‘http://mydomain.com/members/(logged-in-user)/groups’
I know these are the sorts of things that are on the admin bar menu.
I also want to be able to put links to these items here and there, perhaps in pages, and not just rely on users using the admin bar.
So, how easy is it????
