New Plugins Causing Styling to Disappear

Ok folks, I’m stumped. If I install any sort of plugin to enhance my profiles, such as Album+ or the Achievements plugin, I lose all my styling while viewing anything within that new tab. Unfortunately, I’m developing my site on a localhost, so I can’t show you a link.

Basically, if you’re viewing the Profile, Activity, Forums, Groups, etc. tabs, everything is just fine. But once you click on the Albums tabs or Achievements tab, all you see is links – no styling – my tabs and everything disappear, but you can still see and click on the links where the tabs should be.

I know that something in these plugins is overriding my CSS, but I have no idea where to even look.

    Please help!

Make sure the plugins.php files in members and groups are present in your theme.

Hmm, I’m assuming you mean the members and groups folders within my theme – in which case no, I just checked and there isn’t a plugins.php file in either one. There also isn’t one in forums, blogs or activity (not sure if that matters).

I’m curious, if everything works fine in all of my default tabs, why would I be looking specifically at members and groups? Also, where would I get the correct plugins.php files to place in these folders?

    Thanks!

IF you are using a custom theme you MAY need to change the template files of the plugin to suit your theme as per BP Template Pack instructions e.g. plugins—-> bp-album —->includes

    >templates

    >album

    >files in here

Thanks. I’m using a theme with Buddypress compatibility (Salutation by Parallelus). I didn’t think I needed the BP Template Pack but its worth looking into.

Go to the page without CSS and view the source and then paste it here. Want to see what’s missing from header.

This is while viewing the Achievements tab on my profile page, when the CSS is messed up:

Couple points to add – the entire layout of these tabs changes and I lose the changes I’ve to bp-custom.php, which was to reorder the tabs.

Fwiw, Achievements doesn’t use the plugins.php so you will need to make edits to the templates that come with Achievements. I’m sorry it’s not easier.

Yikes, I was afraid of that..

Paul, can you direct me to a specific file that might be causing this? Achievements will play a huge role in my site and I’m determined to solve this one, I just don’t know where to start (also, the answer will lead me to fixing the same issues I’m seeing with Album+, so I can get photos going as well).

    Thanks

Well everyone I appreciate you taking a look at this, I found the solution to my styling issue at the Paralleus support forum for my theme, Salutation: http://para.llel.us/support/groups/salutation-wordpress/. Just log in and search ‘achievements’ and you’ll find a long thread that will take you through it. A couple other issues popped up but hopefully nothing that causes the headaches that this one did.

    Thanks

You have to copy over the folder ‘achievements’ inside that contains the achievement templat files to your custom theme and then fix he HTML to match.
