Buddypress admin less wordpress admin capabilities

Hi there,
I need to make my client the admin for Buddypress (for a Company Intranet) but do not want to give him full WordPress admin rights.
Is there a way to achieve this? I’ve tried the ‘User Role Editor’ plugin to set him as an admin and then try and remove some capabilities from his username, but this is not possible with the plugin (as you can’t remove capabilities from an admin…)
Any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
