BuddyPress.org

I am working on a client site, and while he only wants the forum right now, he thinks he may want the additional options of buddypress later. However, he does not want or need a multisite option either.

So, would it be better to start with just the forum and add buddypress later if or when he decides he really does want the other aspects?

Also, is there a manual or videos that show how to set up the forum from within buddypress? I’m a little lost (okay, a lot). I already installed though it looks like my sidebar sits under the content on a buddypress page.
