BuddyPress Real Names plugin only works if I change ‘Display name publicly as’ away from username an

Hi, i’ve installed BuddyPress Real Names to WP 3.2.1 / BP 1.2.9

When I create a new user, their Full Name is displayed on their profile page.

If I edit user and change the ‘Display name publicly as’ field (which is defaulted to their username, which I want) to any other value, then save, then change it back to username and save, the Username is displayed on their profile page. Which is the intended result.

Is there a way that I can have the Username display on the profile page by default rather than having to go through this process of changing the ‘Display name publicly as’ forwards and backwards?
