BBpress Site wide forum does not work

  • @xtars

I’ve looked at solutions around here and found some that i thought would work but they didn’t.

This is a fresh WordPress, Buddypress, bbPress install. (Installed in that order)
When I installed all of the everything went fine until i wanted to access the site wide forums from the site.

When i klick on the forums link in the menu it i get a red square that says “The forums component has not been set up yet.”

    In `Settings>Forums>Archive Slugs` i get one error.

`Forums base: Forums Possible BuddyPress conflict: Forums page`

Other then that i’m not able to see the forum index (list of categories and their sub forums) even if i add `[bbp-forum-index]` to the forums page.

anoune got and idea of what’s wrong (except that i’m a complete beginner at wordpress).

Last I heard, this was supposed to be addressed in BuddyPress 1.6 where there will be better integration with bbpress 2.0. Where that process stands I have no idea. I ran into the same problem myself and wound up NOT using forums inside BuddyPress and instead am using the bbpress plugin. It’s ugly and very basic, but at least it works.

I had this one as well it’s quite easy to fix really. The only trouble your having is that when you installed Buddypress it installed a forum page with permalink domain/forum <– being forum slug. Which was assigned to the group forum in the database.
You need to delete the complete page, also delete from trash, make a new page name it forum and it should be working with bpp-forum-index then.
I myself fixed it this way I made two forums; forums remaining to be the group forums and then I made a page Discussion forums and named it forum-2 then I set the base and slug in the bbpress settings on forum-2 and it was working again. Both group and sitewide.

Dashboard -> Settings -> Forums, then Archive Slugs. If you see a red error next to Forums Base you will want to change that. Maybe to “sitewide-forums” or whatever. I’m not sure if this is the best answer or not. Hope it helps you.
