Comments on members profile

It is possible to allow comments on a users profile, from both registered and un-registered members? I just want the users page to be treated as a single blog post. I would assume I’d have to insert the comments_template tag in the profile loop, but not sure where to exactly?
(I know I can use forums, and the activity features for discussions but ideally I’d like the same commenting setup for the user profile as a blog post.)
Using the latest version of both WordPress and Buddypress. With the default template pack.
