[Resolved] Use buddypress to let users setup company profiles, please tell me if buddypress is a goo

I would like to let users make a small profile for their company. Simply a profile where they can enter the name, address, etc. Also a couple of photos, and their location on maps. Also other users need to let reviews behind on this profile. And some other small stuff :) Still figuring out….. But not all the social features.

Is this something which you can do and recommend with buddypress? I don’t want to use al the social features, simply a company profile…Off course I do need to make it easy to let users (who don’t make up a company page but will be able to look for businesses in their city) find these profiles so they can hook up with these businesses by a contact form.

Is buddypres recommendable for this? Or can someone suggest me another system?

    Thanks in advance

You can do this but you might want to use something like gravity forms if you are not using the social features.

Here are 3 sites built on BuddyPress that provide for business listings and reviews:

    http://plazaa.de
    http://bitsythis.com
    http://somibo.com

They are all heavily customised builds, and use the BuddyPress member features to provide user accounts – where they create and manage their listings and reviews, and also send messages to other users.

BuddyPress is helpful in that it provides a backbone of classes and API functions for the accounts and messaging. If you want your users to have profiles, and easily access their listings / reviews, then it may be the best choice. If you want minimal profiles and are happy to build your own custom functions to handle that part, then yes vanilla WP and a form solution (bespoke, gravity, or some other 3rd party) is fine.
