Hi,
What happened after the activation procedure? Blank screen?
Do you have access to your server’s error log? If so, what does it state in there? If not, navigate to your /wp-content/plugins directory and rename the “buddypress” to something else. Next, try accessing wp-admin again.
Remove buddypress from plugin folder
I installed BuddyPress and it crashed my site, so I installed it on two test-sites we own. We were locked out of the dash board on all three attempts. I deleted the plugin files via ftp and replaced the .htaccess file before I could access the dashboards again. The .htaccess files needed to be replaced because the following two lines of code mysteriously disappeared:
AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php
AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
We are wondering if the problem lies with our hosting company, as we have had similar issues with the .htaccess file before. (We use 1and1.com).
I really need this functionality on my website and would very much appreciate any advice or assistance in this matter.
Thank you!!!
I am also having this problem with bbpress. Tried twice to install, locked out of dashboard both times. BuddyPress install seems to work fine without it. I host with Bluehost; is there some setting there I should be looking at?
I should note that I did not have to replace the .htaccess files. Deleting the bbpress plugin via FTP recovered the dashboard.
