How to know if a WordPress theme is BuddyPress compatible?

    I am setting up a new website with wordpress and found a theme that I want, but it is not tagged to be BuddyPress compatible. I would expect it to be perfectly possible that it is BuddyPress compatible just by virtue that it is a WordPress theme (from themeforrest).
    But I would like to avoid later surprises or lengthly bug hunts and be on the save side. How can I quickly (and reliably) test/know if a theme is BuddyPress compatible?

    @gripsholm check with theme author, but default BP will work with all theme, sometimes theme author adds their dedicated effort with the template override for their theme inside BuddyPress folder within the theme files.
