Bp Item List Tabs?

Basically the buddypress menus on page have a spacing issue, so i was tweaking around with firebug an noticed on it that if i removed overflow: Hidden;
this would fix the spacing an also remove the blue top half of the menus background ( which is what i want)
but i dont want to be tweaking around with the buddypress code so my question is what code do i use in my css to fix it permanently ?
