[resolved] Managing database size

    Hi,
I run a successful global writers’ club for students using buddypress at http://thenorthschool.com/writersclub . However, my web host (siteground) has told me that the database is too large. My understanding of databases and most technical things is fairly limited. I do know, however, that students tend to send a lot of private messages to each other which are of little or no value. So my question is this – can I delete the private messages part of the database? Will this solve the issue? Will students still be able to send private messages to each other? And if I’m on the right track, how do I do this?

    Many thanks,
    Rob.

No, messages are stored in the database table. Unless you want to explicitly delete your members’ content (and do you know which tables are the largest?), it sounds to me as if you’ve outgrown your curret hosting and need to move to a host without the same limits.

Thank you. I have moved hosts.
