When trying to update status getting “There was a problem posting your update, please try again.”

    Hi,
    Wordpress v. 3.4.2.
    BP v. 1.6.1.

    I have upgraded WP several months ago to v. 3.4.2. I just recently installed BP. When testing it, I’m getting a message in red box after trying to submit status update under the activity tab: “There was a problem posting your update, please try again.”.

    I’m testing this on my test site (locally), so no use for me to post my live site address.
    Server: Apache.

    What can I do to resolve this problem. I’m not a programmer, but I can patch code if told how to do it.

    My first guess without seeing a link would be some scripting error. Can you check using the web inspector in Chrome (or another browser)? https://developers.google.com/chrome-developer-tools/

    I’d suggest if possible to remove all plugins and see if something is causing this. Also make sure your theme and plugins are up to date.

    If that doesn’t fix it could you please provide a link to your site as it’s hard to diagnose without being able to see one. I know sometimes that’s not possible as private or work in progress, but if it is possible it can help.
