“markItUp! is a JavaScript plugin built on the jQuery library. It allows you to turn any textarea into a markup editor. Html, Textile, Wiki Syntax, Markdown, BBcode or even your own Markup system can be easily implemented.”

When you activate this plugin; buddypress uses markItUp for its textareas, with the html default set (I don’t know which specific tags are allowed in buddypress/bbpress); making it easy for you users to stylize what they wrote.

Make sure you submit this to the WP plugin repo and tag it with “BuddyPress” in your readme file.

If someone wants to do this for their BP installation, the download link didn’t work for me (6-25-2010) but I found excellent instructions here:

Thats the link to the markitup site, not the plugin which hooks it into bp-forums

Nothing seems to be working… Etivites steps arn’t working. AARRg!
