xprofile_install error in trunk

It looks like some big changes happened to trunk over the weekend. After the update, I am unable to add new fields in the Profile setup page. I get the following error from bp-xprofile.php&group_id=1&mode=add_field:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare xprofile_install() (previously declared in /Path/to/Wordpress/MU/wp-plugins/buddypress/bp-xprofile.php:32) in /Path/to/Wordpress/MU/wp-plugins/buddypress/bp-xprofile.php on line 99

You can see a picture of the admin page here: http://img.skitch.com/20090406-8nuimsryymim2k3w5156u6ss11.png

I’ve tried it on MU 2.7 and MU trunk, with the same error. I also tried it with all components on (same error) and only the profile component enabled (same error).

    Thanks!

If you simply updated to the recent BP trunk without following this notice ( https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1994 ), then you will have all sorts of issues.

@Jeff Sayer: thanks for the feedback.

I found that thread early on in the process and am running BP with the updated structure per the instructions, so that’s not the issue I’m having.

It seems that you have your path to the BP plugins incorrectly setup. In the error message, it lists the path as /wp-plugins/buddypress/. It should be /plugins/buddypress/

From R1303, BuddyPress plugins were moved out of the /wp-content/mu-plugins/ directory and into the /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/ directory.

After no small amount of troubleshooting it turns out to be a symlinking issue. I symlinked the plugins dir from my version control tree to my local dev environment, and BP doesn’t seem to like that.

Makes sense. I was wondering if you were trying to symlink.

FWIW I symlink both WPMU and BP and haven’t had any issues yet.
