Even though friends component of BP is deacitvated, menus still show it

Even though friends component of BP is deacitvated the side bar (Activity) shows both “Just me” and “My friends”

The topmost horizontal admin/user bar also continue to show Friend in the dropdown list.

This is a pretty core component of any social network. Why would you deactivate it?
