Move a working installation to another domain

    I thought I could just move a working installation to another domain:

    1 export the entire database

    2 search/replace domain name in the .sql file

    3 import to new database

    4 copy the installation folder

    5 search/replace domain name in the folder files

    6 upload to folder for the new domain

    I get an empty screen. Nothing. :-(

    Why doesn’t this work? Is domain name somehow encoded in the database somewhere? Other issues to watch out for?

    Do I really have to go through a step by step reinstall, import posts and users with build-in function and plugins, etc.?
