Need 128MB Php Memory to Run Recent Posts?

Everything is working perfectly on my local install on the default 32 mb php memory. The recent posts page shows blank below the header though.

I increased the memory up to 128mb, that’s when it finally shows. That should not be that way right?

I’m including the php messages below:

[31-Oct-2009 12:29:08] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35 bytes) in /Sites/wordpress.mu/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 302

It depends hugely on the server. For example, I use 64mb to locally test development without difficulty, but I need something like ~96mb on my live server.

It depends if you have optcode caching (something like eAccellerator or Xcache) installed on your server. Highly recommend that you install either one of those if you don’t have it. Memory usage will reduce dramatically.
