Idea: A plugin for plugins (users can choose what they activate)

This is just an idea and I wonder, what others think about it. Maybe even someone could create something like that…

I think, that it would be great, if users could choose, which features (plugins) they want activated for their profile. So most of the people don’t get spammed, because I as an admin, and tech-freak, think, they should have this and that feature and option…

As an example twitter: I could activate a twitter-plugin. But users could choose if it appears in their profile or not. Most of the users here (in Switzerland) don’t use twitter. They shouldn’t have to bother or even think about it, what it means in their profiles. BUT others would love it, to have the possibilty to link it.

If there were a plugin, which would make all other plugins choosable for the user, that would just be great! in my opinion…

So, if somebody knows how to do it – go for it :-)

    What do you think?

    hi Michael

This is not an stupid Idea,It will be one of the excellent thing.I appreciate your attention towards the end users .after all,we all build social network ,and User convenience/control over features should be the most important thing to consider.

The only difficulty I see is implementation. It will need too much attention and some real work.

I will certainly give it a try when I get some time from my current project.I am sure,It will add much value to the community.

I believe It is achievable, but it may take some extra time :)

You mean what components should be activated for a user? Blog plugins and buddypress profile components are two totally different things offcourse. I’d rather not have my users touch plugins since it might cause confusion or bug problems. But on the other hand I would like to see that my users can switch off activity stream for themselves for example.

It is not about activating/deactivating the plugin from the site.It is for a system which controls which component should be active on a user’s profile and which should not be.better Imagine as a bridge between plugins(and the visual functionality they offer) and the User profile/settings.
