I guess you mean 1.2? That’s the latest trunk version. I suggest you contact the theme author and ask him to update the theme.

    He probably means 1.1.3

Oh sorry for that… But i found a 1.1 version here: http://www.avenuek9.com/2009/10/22/avenuek9-buddypress-theme/ but it is still missing a template

Same here – it’s missing the index.php page.

Shouldn’t the template be tested before being distributed from the main site? First the buddy press plug ins don’t install correctly until you go and reset a value in the wp_sitemeta table in the database. Then you have to download a BP enable theme – could you not distribute a default theme with the plugin or at least mention it somewhere? Then the random theme i pick doens’t even work because is missing something as basic as an index.php.

I know this is a free project etc, but how is one supposed to trust you if you can’t even get the basics right?

If I’m correct, that theme is a child theme so it doesn’t necessarily need a index.php because it uses the index.php from the parent theme if the child theme doesnt have a index.php.

@ fritzthecat: The avenue theme is made by a buddypress user and not by the core developers. So if it doesn’t work, don’t blame buddypress.

“First the buddy press plug ins don’t install correctly until you go and reset a value in the wp_sitemeta table in the database. “

If you had to do that, then something’s up with your install.

“could you not distribute a default theme with the plugin or at least mention it somewhere? “

uh, they did. There’s a parent theme in there, a default child theme and in the instructions both in the readme.txt and all over this site it explains how to use it.

hola, sorry guys – wish i’d get an email notification every time someone had a bug with this theme. anywho, i’ve moved all the project files to google code at http://code.google.com/p/avenuek9-bp-theme/ where I have several FAQs and patch files available.

*please note* that bp 1.2 will improve things dramatically by adding a boatload of new features, which includes theming. if you go to testbp.org you’ll see how the default theme has changed. consequently, the avenuek9 theme will change accordingly near BP 1.2 release.

if you are not running bp 1.1.x on a development server (with the avenuek9 theme), please hold out on theming your installation, as it may become a royal pain in the arse once you upgrade. also, if you need any additional help, i usually respond better to private messages (because they fire off a notification to my personal email account saying that i need to bug squash =P)
