Modify Activity output on group activity page

    Currently all activity on group pages is outputted like so:

    USER_NAME wrote on the wire of the group GROUP_NAME:

    Would it be possible, using a plugin or otherwise, to have this outputted like:

    USER_NAME wrote on the wire of this group:

    Because some of the group name we have are quite long and it tends to clutter up the activity stream unnecessarily.

    Yes, it is possible. You can create a function that adds a filter to this key, value pair in the groups_record_activity array in bp-groups.php (line 2059 as of BP v1.1.3):

    'content' => apply_filters( 'groups_activity_new_wire_post', $activity_content ),

    Your filter function would alter the value stored in $activity_content.
