About the Job

We are the creative/technical team at the Liberal Party of Canada.? We have been tasked with developing a next-generation political web site that will engage Canadians in a genuine political dialogue and contribute to the forming of a progressive, Liberal government for Canada following the next election.

We are looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive WordPress developer to help us move beyond our current web presence and create a set of tools to aid Canadians in their participation in the democratic process.

The ideal candidate is someone who possesses strong technical skills, is a self starter with excellent problem-solving skills, thinks strategically, and can collaborate well with others.? We’re looking for someone who is able to work well with our very dynamic team but will also be able to follow through and deliver results independently.

Applicants must be based in Ottawa or willing to relocate immediately at their own cost. This is a full time position with benefits.

Requirements

· Advanced knowledge of PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX

· Proven experience with custom WordPress development, including experience with theme frameworks, plugins and widgets

· A passion for web standards, the best UI/?UX practices, and cross-browser compatibility

Responsibilities

· Interact with Software Engineers and Developers to provide front-end WordPress templates for integration into applications

· Work closely with information architects and designers, advising on the technical viability of feature functionality and interface designs

· Update and maintain web sites

Bonus Points

· Experience with WordPress MU

· Familiarity with Flash

· Ability to use Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign

· Previous experience working on election campaigns

· Bilingualism (French/English)
