Reply to message via email

The email notifications are very nice in BuddyPress, but I’ve grown used to being able to respond to messages from an online app like this via email. Basecamp and Salesforce both have functionality similar to what I am discussing. When I send a message via Basecamp, the user is notified via email and when the user hits reply to the message, the from address is listed as email-lasdkf09q2u43r5asdlf723r.yourdomain@basecamphq.com or something like that. Would it be possible to do email dropboxes similar to Basecamp and Salesforce to enable users to reply to messages via email and have them logged in BuddyPress?
