CSS / border / site-width is bigger than top-header-image

when I am changing the CSS, the border towards 5px:

div#container {

border: 5px solid #CC0000;

}

then the page suddenly gets wider than the top-header-image.

Any idea how to make this border 5px but not becoming a wider page than the top-header-image ?

Appreciate the help from any talented theme designer.
