Private Buddy Press groups

Hi,

Tho I have been using WP for a year this is my first time with WPMU and BuddyPress sof orgive me if this is an obvious question.

I am using Buddypress with a WPMU installation to build a site for a charity with a public facing site and a secure area for members.

The public facing site is a static style website with no community functionality and using a non BP theme.

The privaate site will use a BP theme.

The site owners want members to be able to get in touch with other people they have worked with on projects (I plan to set up each project as a BP group) but not with people they haven’t worked with. I would basically need to set up the groups to be private unless the admin has added you as a member.

Is it possible to set up private groups like this?

When you create a group, you have the option of making it Public, Private or Hidden. Public groups are free for anyone to join, and their content is viewable by anyone. Private groups are listed in sitewide directories, so that others can see the group names and descriptions when searching and browsing for groups, but the content of the group can only be seen by group members. Group membership for private groups is controlled, so that a member can only join if they’ve requested membership or been invited by a current member. Hidden groups are like private groups, except that they do not appear in sitewide group listings and search.
