I want to create a custom text field which is specific to each user and which can only be changed or edited by the admin.

I want this field to be located at the top of the user profile so they can see the notes or message from the admin each time they login.

I know this is probably a simple plug in or alteration, but i am totally clueless in this instance and would greatly appreciate any help. I am using my buddypress as a very simple project management tool and this is the last step I need to make it work perfectly.

You would need to modify the profile loop template so only BP site admins can edit the profile field in question.

Get acquainted with the profile loop:

Which you can modify in your BuddyPress theme’s /members/single/profile/edit.php file.

You can use `is_super_admin()` to check if the logged in user is the admin.
