Edit bp files other than bp-themes

    Hello –
    I am new to BuddyPress and WordPress for that matter. I am trying to customize some of the functions in BuddyPress and all I have seen is information on how to customize the files in the bp-themes folder. So for example if I want to change some of the templates or functions etc under the bp-activity directory or bp-blogs directory how do I go about doing that? Any information would be much appreciated.
