two post columns in BuddyPress Default

Hello,
I am working with BuddyPress Default 1.2.7. I would like to have a home page looking as a newspaper. To do this, i wolud like to have two columns in the homepage (with the sidebar it will be 3 columns). I will have my main post in the left colum, and secondary and shorter posts in the right column…is this possible?
(It wolud be something like Citizen Kane theme)
