I’m looking to help out a client who currently has a site based on locations. He wants people who are members of the site be able to comment, add photos, videos and state if they’ve been to any specific location that he has listed. Is buddy press an appropriate platform for this? Also want to allow members to add new locations. Thanks in advance!!

You could turn BP groups into locations.

There are a few album plugins that work for groups. BP Gallery by buddydev.com works as far as I know and BP Media is scheduled to have this functionality as well.

Members could create new locations by creating new groups.

Remember to change the groups slug to locations:

And modifying group labels to locations with a language file:

You’ll probably have to do some theme modding as well.
