@rossagrant; Long time no visit – been very busy – but noticed your post. This is something that’s beginning to worry me, as our site is at the jump-off point, and I see this happen every time I click Load More on this site. As I said to a colleague yesterday; if this happens to our site once the activity stream really fills up… well, I don’t even want to think about it!
Any ideas on this folks? Is it a known bug? Does it occur only after a certain number of stream posts/replies exist?
There’s a ticket about this with a suggested fix by kunalb:
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2000
@lincme @r-a-y Thanks for the reply. It seems to be a cookie issue. If I clear my browsers cookies then I get normal ‘Load Mores’ but not sure how long that will last with new activity being added all the time.
That Trac ticket is 5 months old, I’m suprised this hasn’t been nailed yet.
The fix mentions that it hasn’t been tested thoroughly yet so I might wait to see if it gets an update soon. It’s quite a big problem in my opinion as members want to look back at what they have missed.
Have you looked at the patch @lincme?
I can’t duplicate this issue on my installs or testbp.org. Kunal’s fix looks like a good idea either way, but it will need more than me to test it.
@rossagrant What versions of WP and BP are you using?
@johnjamesjacoby I’m using WP 3.0 and BP 1.2.5.2
I cleared my cookies and it’s working fine now but not sure if it will revert back after more activity builds up.
I’ll see what happens and keep everyone updated.
The issue also occurs occasionally on bp.org FWIW.
Clearing cookies like rossagrant mentioned fixes the issue temporarily.
@r-a-y, yeah for now the cookie clearance seems to do the trick but for a site with busy forums this feature is a big part of BP which is needed. Could really do with a fix for 1.2.6
Who’s best to target for this. I don’t mind testing any patches etc.
