Activity stream ”Load More” looping content

I’m developing a site, testing plugins etc. I’m running the default theme. I’ve got a private install hosted remotely with early adopters adding content.

I’ve just noticed that if I step back in time with the “Load More” button on the main Activity stream at /activity/, previous content loads properly once and then subsequently loops (ie. the same block of content displays from each request, allowing seemingly infinite instances of itself). I’ve been running quite a few plugins, so I’ve disabled everything except the BP core, removed any widgets, and this behaviour persists.

Members’ individual Activity streams are functioning normally, ie. I can load their content back to their first contribution. However the main Activity stream is looping forever.

I’m pretty certain this has been working fine previously.

I have seen this before. I think it might be a BP bug. If you have a development site, would you mind testing to see whether this is the case with all plugins deactivated (other than BP) and using the bp-default theme?

Boone, yes that is the test I’ve done. All plugins and widgets off (except BP obviously) and bp-default (untouched).

If a plugin conflict has caused this, is it possible that the behaviour remains with the plugin disabled (ie. an altered option in database)?

Solved it. It’s down to a browser cookie called bp-activity-oldestpage. Flush that, and all is well with the world.

I’m not an experienced enough developer to know if this cookie has gotten set on me due to the work I’m doing on the site as an admin, or if this could happen to any random visitor. Can anyone advise? If that were the case, should this be reported as a bug?

Please go ahead and open a bug ticket on trac.buddypress.org with a detailed description of what you know, steps to reproduce, and a link back to this thread. You can use the same user name and password as on this site. Then I or another dev can have a look at whether there is a bug in the way that that cookie works.

    Thanks!

@aljuk I’m having the same problem. What do you mean by “Flush that” for the bp-activity-oldestpage?

@aljuk Same problem here, and your solution worked. Thanks :-)

@kevbow If you’re running Firefox (and I hope you are ;-) ), go to Tools > Options and click Remove individual cookies. Scroll until you find your site name, open the folder and scroll again until you find bp-activity-oldestpage. Highlight it and click Remove cookie. Done.
