Add a message to logged out users on forums, need assistance!

Hello! Good evening to everyone. What I am looking for is a message to put in the forums for logged out users, to log in to reply, or register.
I will do anything to get this right. I have a start, but I need to have the message only appear if the user is not logged in.
`To reply – please log in first.’, ‘buddypress’ ), $bp->root_domain . ‘/wp-login.php?’ You can also create an account`
I tried adding: ` ` before that, but I get parse, after parse, after parse error “unexpected” errors and I can’t seem to get it working, and I am lost!
What am I doing wrong???
