Avatar Upload for New User Failed. Error was: File… is not an image!

    @afritech

    Hi,

    I have been running buddypress 1.2.5.2 and WP2.9.2 on localhost just fine. I was testing it on a live server and when testing new user registration, I encountered this error on avatar upload:

    Upload Failed! Error was: File “/var/www/[sitename]/wp-content/uploads/avatars/11/3D-Prophet2.jpg” is not an image.

    I had already done CHMOD 777 on the whole uploads folder. I however noticed the avatar filename is not renamed as happens on localhost. It is uploaded with the original name.

    I tried a different file and buddypress gave a success message:

    “Your new avatar was uploaded successfully!”

    but there is no avatar for the user. Folder 11 (as above) still shows the files in their original names.

    What could be the problem?

    I have searched the forums, but couldn’t find a similar problem. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

    @afritech

    Changing folder permissions it now logs this error:

    “gd-jpeg: JPEG library reports unrecoverable error: Wrong JPEG library version: library is 62, caller expects 70”

    Any ideas?
