I’m on mu 2.9.2 and bp 1.2.3.

If I change the name of one of my blogs, via General Settings in the dashboard, the old name still shows under “my blogs” in the admin bar and on my profile page. Where does BP pull this from and why doesn’t it update?

Funny you should mention this as it occurred to me this morning or at least a user changed their blog name and questioned why the old name was still displayed on the blog directory page. I assumed that BP didn’t update this and had to go into the DB and change the string manually. What I haven’t had a chance to do is root through the BP code to establish what is the correct behavior, whether the BP table is supposed to up date.

are you referring to the dynamic name within the page title tags? I’m having an issue there as well https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/buddypress-using-latest-post-id-for-each-activity-entry-and-each-page-title/ but i’m getting no forum love. :'(

I’m still on 1.2.3 (too chicken to upgrade yet). Is this still happening in 1.2.4?

I think we are talking about the name one sets on a blog in the general settings, BP grabs that name and places it in it’s own table then uses that on the blog directory listings and elsewhere, however if a user changes this name in their sub blog BP doesn’t seem to pick that up and still displays the old one.

Not sure our production site is running 1.2.2 so if it’s a bug it’s been around a while? I will test on various different test installs and versions in the morning and also check the code to see what the expected behavior is.

I’ve had a look through buddypress/bp-blogs.php and buddypress/bp-blogs/bp-blogs-classes.php and it looks to me as though this meta data should be updating but why it isn’t is beyond my understanding so have opened a ticket on the issue:
