Upon user registration, can you set it that all users will have a default user as their friend? I have done some searches and couldn’t find much.

I have tried the Welcome Pack plug in but I couldn’t get it to work. Will keep trying though.

Welcome pack seems cool, but the question is having a default in place, sort of like “Tom” on mySpace.

Having looked at the tables in SQL I realize that friendship involves a record of a “handshake” between the members to create the bond between two friends

Welcome Pack should do this (default friend, I think it’s called). I am aware I have been negligent with regards to updating Welcome Pack, and I will be doing so once BuddyPress 1.3 goes beta (couple of weeks or so, max).
