Custom registration and welcome messages for different groups?

    Is it possible, through a plugin or hook, to send different messages to users during the registration process depending on an identifier like Group or Role? I am using BP Registration Options to invite users to join different groups at signup. I’d like the messages they receive during the activation process to be tailored to their group. Any ideas?
