I know how to change the language file http://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/ but I don’t know how to change, say, instances of the word “Profile” with a person-face-icon I have. I want to try this with a few other things like Friends, Groups, Settings.

How can I replace core site text with images?

Is BuddiPhone available for download or did the author table that?

You can replace text with images in your CSS files.

There are a variety of techniques you can use. It’s not really a BuddyPress question, and you’d be better looking them up in a guide to CSS, or on some CSS specific forums.

Try googling ‘CSS image replacement’ as a starting point.
