How to remove messages and friend requests from notifications

I created an admin bar similar to Facebook so there is a separate icon for Messages, Friend Requests and General Notifications. I don’t want duplicate notifications so I need to stop message and friend requests notifications from showing up in the bp_adminbar_notifications_menu()
