Members not able to access the site!

HELP!!!!
Hi. I created a clean install of buddypress on bluehost. I played around with the template and invited 5 people to test it and all worked well. Initially it was set up on a temp url provided by bluehost, which was:
http://66.147.244.227/~connedn5
Once i was happy with it all i changed the name servers with my domain hosting company to point my domain at the new site. The domain, which was originally pointing at a wordpress.com blog, was http://www.connectinghr.org. This propogated fine after about 30 minutes. I then changed the wordpress address and Site address url’s in the General settings of my new wordpress.org site to the new http://www.connectinghr.org domain as directed by the bluehost guys. I should say that at this point, it kicked me out of wordpress and i had to contact the bluehost guys to change my password (even though i had not changed it!) so i could get back in.
I then went and invited new members to join the site by email. But now i have a number of problems:
1) I can see the new members listed in the ‘users’ menu in the admin part of the wordpress dashboard, but i cant see them on the site itself. The only people i can see are the ones that i had in the original test group from before i switched the domain pointing.
2) the members themselves cant access the site either. They created profiles, but cant access. If i cut and past the url for their profile into my browser – for example:
http://www.connectinghr.org/members/mattalder/
Then I get the following message:
“This user has been marked as a spammer. Only site admins can view this profile.”
When i look at them from within the wordpress users dashboard, they all look fine – they are not marked as pending or spammers or anything. They all appear – there are 13 of them.
So I then created another profile for me, to test the system. I get as far as creating the profile, and it tells me that i have been successful and it has sent me an email to activate my account, but no email arrives. I suspect this is the issue with the others, but i cant be sure.
Can anyone shed any light on this?? Im desperate! I have gone live with the site thinking it was fine, but its not!
Please help!
